Power flushing is a procedure employed in central heating systems to eliminate accumulated sludge, rust, and debris that can impede system efficiency over time. The process involves using a specialized machine that pumps water at high velocity through the heating system, dislodging and flushing out contaminants. Before initiating the flush, a chemical cleaner is often introduced to help break down and loosen debris. The turbulent flow created by the machine effectively cleans pipes, radiators, and boiler components. The expelled dirty water, along with dislodged contaminants, is then removed from the system.
Following the power flushing, the system is refilled with clean water, often supplemented with an inhibitor to prevent future corrosion.
